Delhi, capital city of the Federal
Republic of India. New Delhi enjoys a large variety of festivals and
events with
traditional music, dance, and colorful costumes. People of all

Republic Day : The national festival in India observed
through out the
country to make the inauguration of the Republic of
India on 26th January 1950. In Delhi, the celebrations include a
magnificent parade of the armed Forces, folk dances and floats from

International Trade
Fair: The Trade fair grounds in Pragati Maidan in Delhi are packed
for a fortnight, when the nternational Trader Fair comes to town.
With representatives from countries worldwide making their presence
felt at the fair, it is a carnival of energy and commerce in the
interests of international trade.
Beating the Retreat:
Every year as a conclusion of the Republic Day celebrations, the
massed bands of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, perform at
Vijay Chowk, the square overlooked by Rashtrapati Bhawan, and the
administrative buildings of North and South Block, at the end of
January. This melodious occasion always concludes with the song "Saare
Jahan se Accha" to remind Indians about their love for their
motherland.
International Book
Fair: The international book fair, comes to Delhi once a year to
delight book lovers in the capital. With a different theme every
year, the book fair has in recent years, focused on Children's;
literature and the SAARC countries and has stalls from all the major
international and many niche publishers displaying their wares. The
book fair is certainly worth browsing though on your Indian Holiday.
Delhi Fashion Week:
Delhi is one of the fashion capitals of India and the week when
India's best designers present their latest collections is eagerly
awaited by the fashion fraternity in India.
Festivals: All the major festivals of India are celebrated in Delhi.
The streets are a riot of color for Holi; they are brilliantly lit
up for Diwali; giant effigies fo Ravana are burnt on Dussehra, Durga
idols are worshipped and immersed for Durga Puja, Santa clauses and
Christmas trees make their presence felt around Christmas, Id-ul-Fitr,
Guru Nanak's birthday and other religious days of the Muslims and
